1. Read 10-15 min. daily/nightly. Please be sure to record the date, titles, and genres on the students' Homework reading logs and return them each Friday. Keep the Genres Reference Page in your child's Daily Communication Take-Home folder year-round as a wonderful resource for you and your child as they explore a variety of genres.
2. Word Work/ Phonics: Fundations Lists~ There are at least a handful of sight words and words that we'll be practicing in school weekly starting end of September/early October, that follow specific patterns as outlined by our Systematic Fundations program that will also be practiced during in-class Word Work time. Please encourage your child to practice internalizing these words at home for 15 min. daily; by completing the Word Work Activities . There will be approximately bi-monthly Fundation tests routinel, which include at least one-two dictation sentences weekly. Capitalization, Punctuation, and Spelling count. *Students will soon have a list of highlighted words in their Orange Daily Folder to keep safe at home to reveal which trick words they still need to solidify and practice for automaticity.
